AJUDARIS is a private, non-profit, nationwide social and humanitarian association that fights daily against hunger, poverty, and social exclusion. It was founded in July 2008 and recognized as an organization of public utility in October of the same year. AJUDARIS is thus classified as an IPSS (Private Institution of Social Solidarity). It was founded by a group of volunteers who had been carrying out ad-hoc social interventions in the field, working with the most disadvantaged populations in the Greater Porto area. In response to constant appeals from the communities they supported, the need arose to create more regular, organized, and efficient solutions aimed at developing multidisciplinary work.
